Mindful Movement & Meditation:
In modern society many of us move a lot less than our bodies need to in order to stay healthy.
Practices such as Yoga and Qigong are wonderful ways to move our bodies in ways they would not otherwise move during the day, nourishing our circulation, our joints and relaxing our minds.
The mindful nature of these practices means they are a kind of moving meditation.
Qigong and Yoga are also extremely versatile and can be tailored for all ages and capacities. Qigong in particular is highly recommended for healthy ageing, given its contribution to greater bone health, balance and fall prevention.
I offer a range of weekly Mindful Movement and Meditation group classes to support you to relax, restore and rejuvenate your body and mind. Mindfulness is fundamental to my own self-care practices, and this comes across in all the movement and meditation classes I run. My classes are always focused on meeting ourselves where we are at, with kindness, and are tailored to group needs and requests. All classes can be practised standing or from a chair, no sitting on the floor cross-legged required! Classes take place at my beautiful, rustic and restorative venue in Meath, as well as from my conveniently located clinic in busy Maynooth. I also run classes and workshops in the community in partnership with organisations such as the Trim Women’s Shed.

Meditation
Meditation is a practice that trains our awareness and attention to achieve greater mental clarity, stability and calm, an essential life skill in today’s frenetic, overstimulated world.
The many benefits of meditation for our mental and physical well-being are well established by research. Meditation can have an immediate impact on our nervous system and bring relief to many symptoms of stress. If practised regularly, the cumulative effects can be significant.

Qigong
Qigong is sometimes referred to as ‘Chinese Yoga’. Qigong is the movement practice that Tai Chi has been based on, and it literally means ‘Energy Work’. Qigong is primarily a standing practice so it is particularly suitable for those who prefer not to get up and down from the floor. It can also be practised sitting down. With its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong allows us to balance and nourish targeted organs and systems as needed to support balance and health.
Classes involve a combination of mindful movements tailored to the group or individual, for example, Chair Qigong where appropriate.

Yoga
The word Yoga literally means ‘to unite’. This reflects the aim of Yoga to bring together the body, the mind and the breath through the practice. Yoga is sometimes perceived as something for fit and flexible people who can make impressive shapes with their bodies. This is not the reality of Yoga at all. Whenever the body, mind and breath come together, even in the gentlest of movements – there is Yoga. It is a wonderful movement practice that is accessible to all regardless of age or ability.
Classes involve a combination of breath work and mindful movement tailored to the group or individual, for example, Chair Yoga where appropriate.
